These dolphins live up to about 32 - 48 years, measure between 2 - 2.8 meters, and weigh between 90 and 160 kg. They are carnivores and primarily feed on fish and cephalopods.
Bottlenose dolphins generally live offshore, at depths of over 1,500 meters in warm waters (above 25°C).
Scientists have little information about the reproduction of Bottlenose dolphins. Females are believed to reach sexual maturity between 10 and 14 years old.

Head
Cone-shaped, slightly rounded melon, no demarcation between the melon and the rostrum.
Dorsal Fin & Fins
Prominent and falcate dorsal fin in a central position, often marked with scars, slightly curved long pectoral fins.
Swimming sequence
Never swims in leaps, often in very tight groups, regularly with the tip of the beak and the chin above the surface.
Coloration
Darker cape, especially visible up close, and a paler lateral region, genital area often pink, the body may be covered with scars and white spots on the ventral side.
