Dwarf orcas live up to about 21 years, measure between 2 - 2.6 meters, and weigh between 100 and 225 kg. They are carnivorous and consume fish, small crustaceans, and mollusks.

Also known as pygmy orcas, dwarf orcas live in tropical and subtropical waters at depths between 110 and 2800 meters.

Scientists have little information on the reproduction of dwarf orcas. Females are said to reach sexual maturity when they reach a size of about 2.1 meters.

Head

Small and rounded, bulbous melon, absence of rostrum.

Dorsal Fin & Fins

High dorsal fin almost triangular, slightly pointing backward, pectoral fins with rounded tips.

Coloration

Dark gray to black dorsal side with a cape extending slightly down to the dorsal fin, gray flanks, light gray to white ventral side, white lips.
