Tax on maritime passengers bound for protected natural areas
Applicable since January 1, 2018, this so-called “Barnier” tax applies to all sea passengers bound for protected natural areas, of which the AGOA sanctuary in Guadeloupe is an integral part.
This tax, introduced in 1995 by the Barnier law, aims to raise awareness and make passengers aware of their responsibilities by making them contribute to financing the protection of these protected maritime areas..
How to pay the Barnier tax as a passenger on an outing with Soleil Excursions :
The port of Baille-Argent in Pointe-Noire is located in the adjacent maritime area, so the tax is €1 per passenger.
We have chosen to include this tax automatically in the price of your tour.
How does Soleil Excursions pay this tax?
Each service provider is required to pay this tax to Customs Maritimes, which is then transferred to the Guadeloupe National Park.
The Barnier tax is used to maintain sites and anchorages, as well as information panels, and to help make natural and protected sites safer.
