Over the years, with our almost daily outings at sea, we have amassed thousands of memories engraved in our hearts with the cetaceans of Guadeloupe.
How could we not mention that unlikely encounter with an orca, an exceptional moment we never imagined we'd experience here in Guadeloupe?
Or this sperm whale, which seems to recognize us, often returning to greet us as we pass under the boat, as if it wanted to establish a link with us. Thanks to the photo-identification carried out by our photographer Valérie Gueit, we even learned to identify it among the others.
There are countless magical moments with cetaceans in Guadeloupe, each one a reminder of the richness and beauty of our marine environment.

1. An unforgettable encounter with 7 humpback whales around the boat:
Certainly one of our best moments with cetaceans in Guadeloupe.
On this outing, we had the incredible good fortune to be surrounded by no less than seven humpback whales.
Whales were blowing all around the boat, immersing us in a harmonious symphony of sound and movement.
Each whale moved with majestic grace, diving and rising in a spectacular aquatic ballet. We didn't know where to look, such was the grandeur and uniqueness of the spectacle.
Why it was special: To witness such a gathering of humpback whales is a rare and unforgettable experience.
These giants of the ocean are a reminder of the incredible richness of Guadeloupe's marine biodiversity.
This moment only reinforces our admiration for these whales and the importance of preserving their natural sanctuary.

2. Dolphins play around the boat
During an exceptional outing, we had the chance to witness a massive group of Fraser’s dolphins, gathering by the hundreds around the boat. It was a breathtaking spectacle!
The dolphins, gracefully agile, leapt through the waves and revealed their pink bellies under the sun, creating a stunning contrast with the crystal-clear water. The group’s energy and harmony were palpable, and the scene felt almost unreal in its beauty and intensity. It was an unforgettable moment where we could truly feel the power and magnificence of nature at its peak.
Why it was special: Seeing a group of Fraser’s dolphins by the hundreds, showing off their pink bellies, was truly a highlight.
Their impressive numbers and social behavior amplified the feeling of witnessing something extraordinary.
This spectacle revealed the deeply communicative and cooperative nature of these dolphins, creating an instant connection between the animals and the passengers. It was a magical moment, a true meeting point between humans and wildlife, where the beauty of the marine world left us speechless.

3.A spectacular collective spyhopping of sperm whales
One of the most memorable experiences during our sea excursions was observing an entire group of sperm whales engaged in spyhopping.
Nearly a dozen of these impressive cetaceans, in a socializing phase, approached the boat, creating a true aquatic ballet.
In a fascinating swirl of movement, they lifted their heads above the water to observe their surroundings, offering us a rare and captivating show.
Why it was so special : Seeing a single sperm whale spyhop is already a unique moment, but witnessing this behavior as a group is simply extraordinary.
These sperm whales appeared curious and intrigued by our presence, revealing their social nature and incredible intelligence. It was an unforgettable moment of interaction — one we’re not likely to forget anytime soon.

4. Clicks and songs captured with the hydrophone: quite an incredible moment, to say the least!
During our whale-watching excursions in Guadeloupe, we use a hydrophone , designed to capture underwater sounds to listen to cetacean communications.
Hearing their clicks and songs allows our passengers to dive into their acoustic world and grasp a unique aspect of their lives. These sounds, used for navigation, orientation, and communication, truly enrich our experience at sea.
Why it was special :These sounds remind us just how intelligent and social these cetaceans are. Listening to their underwater exchanges deepens the sense of immersion and allows us to feel their presence long before we see them, it’s almost magical!

5. A rare encounter with a group of pseudorcas (false killer whales)
One of best moments with cetaceans in Guadeloupe.
On a recent outing (November 2O24), we had the incredible good fortune to come across a group of pseudorcas , these imposing cetaceans that can reach up to 6 meters in length.
Their elegant silhouettes and synchronized movements were captivating. One of the most memorable moments was when one of them spyhopped, almost completely lifting its head out of the water.
This behavior allowed us to glimpse not only its large, observant eyes, but also the underside of its belly, revealing a rare and fascinating sight.
Why it was special : Observing a group of pseudorcas in Guadeloupe is a rare experience, and their curious behavior towards the boat left everyone in awe. Their impressive size and majestic presence testify to the incredible diversity of cetaceans in Guadeloupe's waters, making every outing a unique and unforgettable adventure.
